Perlite for Filtration and Process Aid
2022-12-12
As a filter aid, expanded perlite bubbles can be used to separate small solid particles from liquids due to their physical characteristics. An aid to filtration is a finely graded material that, when added to the liquid to be filtered, collects on the septum (a screen or cloth). Thus, filter aids form porous layers on the septum, allowing solids to be trapped there without blinding the septum. Expanded Perlite bubble structures are milled and classified with strict processes to produce Perlite filter aids with specific flow characteristics. For a wide variety of applications, the various grades use the jagged interlocking structures to create billions of microscopic channels between the filter aid particles.
Applications of Perlite for Filtration Aid:
There are many applications where Perlite filter aids are being utilized due to their low density, availability, performance, economy, and environmental footprint.
